DAY THREE

Just managing to finish the dreaded linear algebra assignment, a cup of ribena kept me company. Now i sit and type out this blog... Cardboard box tomorow... Oh my gosh the famous PROCRASTINATION has arrived once again (who said it was for HSC only?!).

However there is formal news.... *ahem* I did not forget the seriousness of this blog ALL my literary criticisms (*cough* blabbering!) does amount to something... (well at least to myself).

Yes back to new news, in the recent publication by University of Sydney Union (USU) - The Bull, An article reads "A War of a Different Kind" (written by Nina Funnell)... What caught my attention was the by line read ..'Nina Funnell writes about addiction, World of Warcraft Style.'

For those that dont know...(a group which hardly exists), World of Warcraft is a PC game played on a server and involves fighting and magic and all sorts of stuff.. (Like Neverwinter Nights... THE GAME THAT OWNS ALL!). However WoW (world of warcraft..) is the largest multi-user game played on an online server, with >10million players... Its an ADDICTION!!! (Yes Sahu addiction... like nicotine, drugs, chocolate, ribena.... PEPSI!).

Obviously teh game is targeted at us teenagers but surprisingly teh average player age is 28 (according to the article)... like Oh MY GOSH... these people have no lives!

The article continues to describe symptoms of not playing WoW.... "...addiction and dependence, claiming that players who quit by going 'cold turkey' frequently exhibit 'symptoms' associated with 'withdrawal' and 'depression'. Such symptoms include anxiety, craving, low self esteem, abuse of alcohol + drugs, disordered sleeping and eating! This is where i said THANK GOD i havent installed it yet!

I have heard many WoW stories myself... from a couple of my friends who are users and x-user. One story involves a bunch of boys (from Sydney BOys?) taking a day of after the trials to STAY HOME... (??) in order to play WoW... NOT go out to a net cafe or somones house... but THEIR OWN house in order to play this WoW.

Addiction to the max... either that or stupidity. hmmm... this concludes my ramblings for today! So Where's the ribena??...
